Kung Fu
There are hundreds of traditional Shaolin Temple empty-hand and weapon forms taught out to the students of Shaolin. This insures that each student will remain excited, challenged, and involves for a lifetime. Shaolin is about more than just fighting, it is about adopting the best of what Chinese martial art tradition has to offer and mixing it into our hectic “Western” lives to create a powerful combination.|
Fact #1 ~ |
While most matrial arts schools appeal only to children, over 80% of Shao-lin students are adults (30% of those are women). |

Kids Kung Fu
• Builds confidence and self-esteem as well as self-discipline, respect, concentration and courtesy.
• Martial Arts is ideal for children who may not do well in team sports, giving them the ability to flourish this activity, while combining physical and mental practices.
• Children with special needs, such as ADD, learning challenges, and hyperactivity are suggested to participate in martial arts for kids because of the apparent benefits in its ordered training techniques.
Here at Shaolin Center of Kingsport, we have an excellent children's program designed to improve confidence, self esteem, and empower your child. Get your child active in something that will not only last more than a season, but an entire lifetime. Discipline is taught from day one. Shaolin Kung Fu teaches children how to respect themselves as well as others. Every child is unique and because of this we try to develop the child’s individualism using their natural gifts and talents. Do something that will protect your children, give them self confidence, and give them the tools they need to become a success!
Tai Chi
Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art often practiced with the aim of promoting health and longevity. Tai chi training forms are well known as the slow motion routines that groups of people practice together every morning in parks around the world, particularly in China. Some medical studies support its effectiveness as an alternative exercise and a form of martial arts therapy. Tai chi chuan is considered a soft style martial art - an art applied with internal power - to distinguish its theory and application from that of the hard martial art styles.
The beginning of Internal Kung Fu training is Tai Chi. Tai Chi forges an increase connection between mind and body, while training the student in the 'soft' or yeilding style of martial arts. As in Kung Fu, there is constant new material so one can remain interested and challanged for a lifetime.

Kung Fu and Tai Chi movements can build up many areas of the physical body not usually used in daily actions or regular exercises. In addition, these movements help to develop you in ways that do not distress or injure your body. Additionally, many students that claim a pre-existing injury have found relief that was unavailable to them through conventional treatments.
Kung Fu and Tai Chi training employs the practitioner's mind, which in turn increases the confidence, patience, strength, willpower, self-discipline and focus necessary for achievement in any endeavor.
With proper training anyone can develop these mental and physical qualities, regardless of background, age or current physical ability.
An absence of self discipline is one of the greatest destroyers of personal goals. One of the greatest benefits to Kung Fu and Tai Chi training is the relationship between the student and the Instructor, who is there to help you reach your goals. As Master Mullins tells us “Discipline desires determination.” Though training is challenging, students can build their determination and self discipline which can then enhance all areas of their daily lives.

Like the Yin Yang, Internal and External systems make a whole. Otherwise, it's just one sided.
