Around The Kwoon
As our classes begin to grow, one thing we need to keep in mind is what is going to bring them back.  Let's show all new students that even though we punch, sweat and kick we know how to have a good time doing so.  We want to encourage each person when they are here and help them too.  By encouraging each person, they will be able to find their self estem and have a better feel of confidence as they learn the best fighting style in the world.

s our classes begin to grow, one thing we need to keep in mind is what is going to bring them back.  Let's show all new students that even though we punch, sweat and kick we know how to have a good time doing so.  We want to encourage each person when they are here and help them too.  By encouraging each person, they will be able to find their self estem and have a better feel of confidence as they learn the best fighting style in the world.

Kung Fu, and Tai Chi, have many things to offer each individual.  It teaches us how to respect others, how to treat others even when we are not being treated like we feel we should be, how to receive constructive critisism, how to be helpful to those who need our help, and how to keep our attitudes under control being able to walk away from any given situation. We want people to come in to our school and say "WOW, there is a difference between Shao-Lin and any other school out there".

Remember that everywhere we go, every person we come in contact with, allows us to 'affect' or 'infect' who-ever we reach.  We have many things around us as well as inside us. We show our ability to control these things by controling what is in us. Whether it is anger, pride, or fear, by hummbling ourselves we have the ability to control what 'affects us and those around us. As your instructor, I would love to hear people in our community say that we have something that no-one else outside our system has - Kind and kindered spirits that have a humbling respect. Through kindness and patience I beleive that we will be able set forth an example for all to follow.

As we go through class look for those new students, or even older students, that might be having trouble or having a hard time remembering their forms or movements and encourage them. Help them by showing that each of us care how each of us feel. In our system, we are much like a family. We help each other along by encouragement and respect.

The best way to get our school growing is by word of mouth. Word of mouth has more of an impact on someone than by advertisement. Let's all try and speak to at least one person a day about our school and the benifits we receive from it by showing them how we react to any given situation and show that we can rise above anything.

Remember:  "Sweat Hard, Gasp for Breath and Suffer Greatly!" ~Elder Master GaryMullins.

Let's keep kickin' and punchin' to a great year!
